At the Monaco Yacht Show 2022, Tankoa Yachts unveiled their fourth 50-meter hull, M/Y Kinda, part of an all-aluminum series designed by Francesco Paszkowski.
Although sharing a familial resemblance with its predecessors, marked by the same graceful, low-profile silhouette, what truly distinguishes M/Y Kinda is its colossal 5,000-liter capacity swimming pool on the foredeck. Notably, M/Y Kinda is the second yacht to feature a hybrid propulsion system.
Francesco Paszkowski expressed, “Kinda is the result of a collective effort involving the shipyard, the owner, and our studio—a yacht crafted meticulously in collaboration. The exterior design retains the core attributes of the 50-meter series, such as the vertical bow, which increases the internal volume to 496GT, the spacious swim platform at the stern, and expansive windows that seamlessly link the interior and exterior spaces.”
A striking highlight is the grand central staircase adorned with wooden steps supported by a polished stainless steel central pillar and banister. On the lower deck, the beach club is complemented by the side-loading tender garage at the stern, and forward, there are crew quarters, a pro-spec galley, and a crew mess.
In terms of relaxation, the open-air spaces feature ample seating, including a substantial Minotti sofa arrangement on the main deck aft, a forward lounge area with a swimming pool, and dining facilities on the upper deck aft. The sundeck is furnished with a forward sun pad, an al fresco galley, pop-up tables, and sun loungers, making it the ideal place for a leisurely day of lounging and unwinding.
The M/Y Kinda’s interiors are a splendid fusion of modern and natural elements, reflecting the owner’s distinctive taste and style. The coherent blend of various finishes, including brushed oak for the soles and lightly lacquered ceilings, harmoniously plays with color by incorporating constructed fabrics and a few select furnishings, elevating the interior spaces to new heights.
This luxury yacht boasts six capacious guest cabins on the lower deck, comprising a full-beam VIP suite and a forward master stateroom on the main deck. The guest cabins feature dark brown leather headboards, while the owner’s apartment and the VIP suite are adorned with soft nabuk headboards. The walls are accented with leather panels in varying shades of grey and highlighted seams. Mirrors with smoked and Havana shades seamlessly harmonize with the overall interior aesthetic.
Tonkoa’s M/Y Kinda is driven by Bintador’s hybrid propulsion system, developed in collaboration with MAN and Siemens, offering three cruising modes: diesel-mechanical, diesel-electric, and full-electric. The yacht operates nearly silently in zero-emission or battery mode and diesel-electric mode. When anchored, the generators produce no noise or emissions.
The engine’s design prioritizes reduced fuel consumption and prolonged machinery servicing intervals, particularly for the generators, in the most suitable sailing mode. The eco-friendly hybrid propulsion system allows access to protected areas off-limits to other yachts. Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa’s Sales Manager, reports, “M/Y Kinda was a major success during MY S 22. Her expansive spaces, exceptional interior design, the magnificent pool at the bow, and hybrid propulsion make her the ideal yacht for creating unforgettable moments while cruising with family and friends. Owner satisfaction is paramount, and KINDA has exceeded our expectations.”
Francesco Paszkowski’s striking exterior design, combined with Tankoa’s top-tier craftsmanship and the option of hybrid propulsion, forms an extraordinary combination that undoubtedly influenced the owner’s choice. It’s a sentiment shared by many.
