Cineflix Rights Secures Deals for ‘Last King of The Cross,’ ‘Reginald the Vampire,’ and ‘Sugar’ – Exclusive Announcement

Cineflix Rights has recently finalized several international agreements, encompassing the return of seasons for “Last King of The Cross” and “Reginald the Vampire,” as well as the movie “Sugar.”

“Last King of The Cross” depicts the incredible journey of John Ibrahim, who rose from a penniless immigrant to the renowned nightclub tycoon in Sydney’s Kings Cross. Season 2 of the series has been acquired by Sky (U.K.), Warner Bros. Discovery (New Zealand), and Paramount+ (Canada). It will provide a deeper exploration of the enticing yet perilous realm of Kings Cross as John expands his empire into the thriving queer nightclub scene.

Season 2 of “Reginald the Vampire” has been secured by NBC Universal International Networks for regions including France, Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe, German-speaking Europe, and the UK. The show has also been acquired by Sky (U.K.), Canada’s Bell Media (covering Seasons 1 and 2), and M6’s 6Play streaming platform. Inspired by Johnny B. Truant’s “Fat Vampire” novels, the series stars Jacob Batalon (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”), Mandela Van Peebles (“Mayor of Kingstown”), and Em Haine (“Fargo”).

Additionally, Cineflix has achieved distribution agreements for “Sugar,” a feature thriller inspired by the gripping real-life tale of the ‘Cocaine Cowgirls.’ It follows two young Canadian influencers on a dream trip that turns into a harrowing nightmare when they become ensnared in a deadly drug smuggling operation. The movie has been acquired by Lifetime (U.S.) and Paramount+ (U.K.), featuring an ensemble cast including Katherine McNamara (“Shadowhunters,” “Maze Runner: The Death Cure”), Jasmine Sky Sarin (“Perfect High”), Armand Assante (“Gotti”), and Éric Bruneau (“Coroner”).

James Durie, the head of scripted content at Cineflix Rights, emphasized the company’s strategy of building successful scripted franchises alongside developing new dramas. He noted that in addition to securing second-season deals for “Last King of The Cross” and “Reginald the Vampire,” Cineflix is actively expanding its movie and feature business, with a particular focus on thrillers like “Sugar.”
